The Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Diversification announced $1 million of funding for Startup Winnipeg towards a new 22,000 sq. ft. facility located on Winnipeg Innovation Alley.
The announcement was made at 85 Adelaide St., the site of the Startup Winnipeg facility expansion. The new 22,000 square foot facility will house startups and organizations that support entrepreneurs in taking innovative products and ideas to market.
“The funding from Western Diversification is a game-changer. As a part of our Innovation Alley growth strategy, Startup Winnipeg will be able to support over 10 times more startups. The Western Diversification investment is being put towards cutting edge communication and cloud technologies which will not only link Winnipeg Innovation Alley to critical supports in education and industry within Winnipeg, but also allow local startups easy access to the global world of investors and buyers.” said Mike Legary, chair of Startup Winnipeg.
Startup Winnipeg anticipates this new facility will generate room for up to 100 new startups ranging from new entrepreneurs starting out with an idea, to those growing their companies and adding their first early staff.
