Members of the SSC are deeply saddened to learn of Ian Kerr’s death from cancer on August 26 2019. Ian was a valued colleague, from the University of Ottawa, with whom we collaborated on several major projects. He had a gift for communicating complex ideas in an accessible manner – and a marvelous sense of humour. His insights on the ethics of surveillance are a great legacy but the person himself will be sorely missed by all of us.
